Greetings Highlander Families and Community Members!  

I want to welcome you to a school year filled with loads of adventure and countless opportunities for growth..  As your principal, it is my pleasure to work with our dedicated staff and community to provide an educational experience that supports each student and allows them to grow and feel successful.

Congratulations on helping us make a 4 Star rating on the 2023-2024 Ohio School Report Card! We are so proud of the team effort to accomplish this goal.

Southwestern Elementary has established an environment where students are inspired and motivated to become lifelong learners and individuals that care for themselves and others.  Our goal is to provide an engaging learning environment that meets each students' academic, social, and emotional needs.  We have a Family Liaison on staff and work with area agencies to meet students’ social and emotional needs.

Families, teachers, support staff, community members, and administration all play a crucial role in the academic, social, and emotional development of our students. One of the strengths of Southwestern is the collaboration among families, teachers, staff, and community. Working together, we can make a proactive difference.  Strong partnerships between home and school promote greater success for our children.  Parents are invited to become involved in our Parent Teacher Organization.  This organization supports our vision by working with our students and staff to assist in learning endeavors and resources.  It is also a great way to get your ideas heard.  I encourage parents to communicate with teachers and staff through Dojo and Remind to create a successful collaborative partnership.  Parents are also welcome to volunteer in our classrooms and join us for special events.
